FEW, A FEW, SEVERAL, SOME and MANY

Few means hardly any; that is 'small in number' and not useful for anything. Few has a negative meaning.

'He has few friends here.' (Hardly any.)

A few means 'a small number of people or things'.

'I have a few books by Dick Francis.'

Several means 'a number more than 'a few' and less than 'some'.'

'There were several online enquiries today.'

Some means 'a number of people or things but not a large one.'

'Some people think that man has never been to the Moon.'

Many means 'a large number of people or things'.

'Many experts think that Indian English is a variety to reckon with.'
